My 84 has a strong C6 and an 8.8. I'm running 28" tires on it also. Its pretty much my errand runner, weekend fun truck, not my commuter or an every day driver. When I got it, it had 4.11 gears. Idiocy quick, but the freeway wasn't even an option it was wound up so high. I swapped in a posi 3.55 gear set and it was pretty damn nice around town and was almost bearable on the highway, but still a little too wound up for my taste. For kicks, I swapped in a 2.73 gear set and it is wonderful of course on the highway, but I really lost the circus factor punching it around town. Now I'm going back under it to throw a set of 3.27 gears just to see if its a touch better than the 3.55 set, I almost did 3.07 instead but my wife (of all people) said she thought it was more fun when it was an animal with the lower gears. One other important factor: Under the hood it a Bored 460 (472). Its a Keith Black short block, roller cam, gear drive cam, trick flow racing top end with MSD and a big Holly. Its pushing a legit 550+ HP. That being said, What gears do you guys tend to prefer on your 2WD street trucks without an OD gear? I'm hoping these 3.27 will be a good compromise all the way around.

The 3:27s are about as good a compromise as I can hope for with a C6. Feels just about right.
