    Get the Fel-Pro gasket..............you won't be sorry.
Thin layer of blue permatex on pan and block.

    Not trying to disrespect.... But
don't use blue permetex . Throw that stuf in the trash .
Ultra Black for iron, ultra grey for aluminium .

Most important step in avoiding oil leaks is the use of a torque wrench, and the recommended bolt installation pattern.

I though that went without saying .Proper procedure .

Never had any problem with it myself, and if it can keep the valve covers on a 2.8 Ford V-6 from leaking, it must be sent here from the gods themselves.

It should go without say, lol, it doesn't always. I've seen countless people wing it when it comes to installing parts that should use a torque wrench, especially on valve covers and oil pans.... the wrong headed thinking of tighter is better for a gasket seal. So I figured I would mention it just in case.

I'd also get the 1 piece Fel-Pros verses their multi-piece gaskets.

Never did like the crap .. Blue is almost as useless as clear in oil sealing .Ultra Black or Grey ...... they are the ones to use .
Then there is number 2 and Indian head . both have their uses .

are you doing them under the truck or with the block out and the crankshaft up ? reason I ask..Felpro sells the kit with the gasket and 4 little blue clips that hold the gasket up to the block and then you put the pan over the clips and everything is in the right position... great help if you're 'under' it.

When I bought the new oil pan they sent me the black Permatex sealant.

What is the torque specs for the bolts?

I'll be doing it with the engine hanging from my engine hoist and don't have any clips, the gasket is a 4 piece and the transmission is still attached to the block.
