I just ordered a Buck General Heritage Edition hunting and camping knife, made in USA, as a matter of fact:

Made in El Cajon California, not far from my father's house when I was living there

It.. means something special to me.

But I noted that the sheath is leather. Leather may absorb moisture and no matter how good the steel is (if not excellent...) that is a problem

    Troopies?

    What does your EXPERIENCE recommend?

Is leather good if you treat it, but with what?
    -inside and out

    v/r L'il old me...

PS: If synthetic is your choice, what is good to treat those materials with to preserve both the blade and carry?

    * people who only want to buy things once want to know
