    Hello!
I have a 1995 Ford F-150; 4.9L i6. It ran fine and was almost a daily driver. I started it one afternoon recently and it struggled to stay running and died as it idled. Basically, it will start, run for about 30 seconds and start to sputter. I give it throttle to keep it running for another 20 to 30 seconds and then it will die. Exhaust smells a lot stronger than usual. I’ve replaced the oxygen sensor, map sensor, idle air control valve, a few vacuum hoses, the fuel filter, distributor cap and rotor, and installed new plugs and wires. I tested the fuel pressure at the rail and it came back as being 15 pounds for the rear tank and 17 pounds for the front tank, key on engine off. So I replaced the fuel pressure regulator. (I can also hear the fuel pumps priming with the key on).
Anyone have any thoughts as to what could be wrong? It still starts for 20-30 seconds, then dies after running roughly the whole time.

    Thanks in advance!!

    Check your egr system.
Pull the valve off and inspect for clogged passages especially in intake manifold. Check all vacuum lines for cracks. And test your throttle position sensor. I fixed my 95 300 by just simply swapping around the vacuum lines on the vacuum reservoir. Or what's called a coffee can as well.

I just replaced all my plastic vacuum lines with rubber and what a difference. Don't forget to check check valves in vacuum system Screenshot_20210903-092430.png Screenshot_20210903-092430.png #ad

thank you 95 Eddie Bauer! I had tried what you suggested and it turns out it was my ECM computer. I just had it replaced a couple months ago after lots of trial and error.

Those computers run around $200 or $300 brand new. You can find them for around $100 or less refurbished. I went with the brand new and the truck began to run wonderfully.

Yeah they are special trucks with a great engine. My wife had me sell mine as soon as we got it running, so hang onto yours and take care of it!
