IN MY OPINION.. 300/6 is hard to beat and basically bulletproof. The 302 has about the same hp/torque ratings but achieve it higher up in the rpms but I don't like them as to me they don't last. 351 windsor wouldn't be a bad choice as loads of hp and torque can be achieve with bolt on parts. Stay away from the 351M/400 engines. If you want to go big block then the 429/460 is the way to go.

 

Thanks Fred. I got a great deal on a 302 small block V8 and decided the deal was too good to pass up. My first choice would have been the Ford 4.9 L inline 6.
