I actually think the tailgate is pretty cool if you do construction work or work which requires a lot of hand loading or unloading of heavy items (like concrete bags).
The likelihood that a working contractor would be buying a Denali falls somewhere between slim and none. Whereas the more simplistic, and practical, Ford step is workable across all applications from soccer Dad to professional contractor. And, I imagine, more cost effective.
