I have a F350 6.2L 10 spd and 3.73 rear end Crew Cab. It also has the trailer tow and snow plow package. Been looking at all the Ford towing specs as well as the engine specs for both engines. What doesn't quite add up to me is the 7.3 "only" has about 55 hp and 45 ft/lbs torque over the 6.2L, but the 7.3L with the same transmission/rear gear combo has a 4000 lb greater towing capacity. Not quite sure how to rectify this huge difference, can anyone shed some light on this?!

55 hp and 45 ft lb torque is significantly more than “only”. Plus the 7.3 develops it’s torque at lower rpm’s…..I believe. I never owned a 6.2 but my 7.3 is very impressive towing my 5th wheel.
