Synthetic oil IS better and will make an engine last longer

    And define better. Just because it's better, is it really needed? If you need X to make your engine last forever, but Y performs better in a lab test, is Y really needed or is just using X forever just as good?

    Here's a UOA from my old truck back when it just had 500,000 miles on it. Son in law is still driving it today. It's been a conventional oil truck, not synthetic.

    They're making that study now ? Synthetic oils have been around for many years with many studies showing they are better . Looks like all the oil companies are using it now. My contacts have been with engine makers who are now recommending synthetics . Their tests convinced me to use it.My ' 09 F150 has had synthetic for longer than FORD has recommended it .
    You could always test it yourself with regular oil analysis.
