I recently purchased a 1950 Ford F1 Pickup. Finally got all the gauges working EXCEPT the engine temperature gauge, just can't get it. Replaced both sending units, have 6 volt at the sending unit wire, and at the dash instrument.
Any idea would be a help.
    Thanks.

OS F1 W, sorry no one here responded. Did you resolve your temp gauge issue?

take your connection loose at the sending unit. With the wire removed and the ignition on, note the gauge reading. Now ground the wire from the sensor and see if the gauge changes. if the needle does not move you have a problem with the gauge or the wiring. if the gauge changes from cold to hot, you have a bad sending unit.

Most likely the gauge. If you get your hands on a F1 shop manual there is a detailed check out of the gauge and system. I checked my and it was a bad gauge. About $75 at midfifitys or others
