So I bought my dream truck F250 sd 6.2 gas ,4 door 6ft bed, it was purchased at a dealer with 18k miles , XLT with the plow package & skid plates.
Its been good 13 mpg high way , 9-10 around town , Cold start ups it sounds like a bad lifter " IM OLD" is what it is . have not had a new truck since 01' , Just wondering if I should just get rid of it ? coming up on the end of the 3o k warrantee .

 

Quick and easy thing to try, install the FL-820S oil filter if you don't already have one.
I had lifter rattle on cold start for years of old trucks, until a wise parts guy told me to use an oil filter with a silicone anti-drain back valve.
Seems that did the trick for me, several different times over the years, mostly Dodges, but also on my last SD 5.4 .... it was reinforced if I got a quickie oil change......

I hope this helps, it might, it might not, but Ford FL-820S filters are only about $4 and one of the best around.

All the talk , but could this noise be fuel injector noise on the 6.2 motor ?
I sure will ask again , when at dealership .
