Proportional electric trailer brakes, does the truck vary the brake pressure with voltage, or something like pulse width modulation?

the trailer brake controller applies the brakes with a variable voltage. as the pendulum in the controller swings more voltage is applied.

Older controllers use the pendulums. Newer controllers use multi axis sensors like you find in cell phones. That way they are more sensitive and allow greater choice of mounting positions.

Thanks guys. This weekend I will be replacing the battery on the trailer, removing the wheels and doing a brake inspection. I wanted to be able to test the variable function of the brake while I am at it. I have a pack of some high amp resistors, I'll use this to test various voltages.

Looks like my weekend is not going to be working on that.... but on the 6.0L itself. That will go in another thread.
