1986 F-150 XLT Lariat 302FI 5.0 - Truck runs great, but when shutting her down after a decent drive and the truck is warmed up, it doesn't want to start back up. If I wait 10-20 minutes and let it cool down she fires right up. The fact that when it cools down it fires up, makes me think it's not the battery, so I'm looking at the starter, relay, and wire. I noticed the exhaust comes out right under the starter and there's no shielding between the two, could it be that the starter is getting overheated and causing the issue? Or maybe the wire between the relay and the starter is having an issue when the engine heats up? Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and maybe some insight into where to start looking. Thanks.
