I am separating the automatic transmission from a 352.
Should I unbolt the torque converter before pulling the engine.
I have never I have never separated the engine and transmission from an automatic.
I appreciate all comments and advice.

Yes remove the dust cover, rotate engine around to remove the 4 torque converter bolts, then push the converter back away from flex plate. You can use the starter and a remote button to rotate engine.

    Thank you.
After thinking about it, I did unbolt it and it separated smoothly.
Since I already have so much of the parts removed, I was able to stand between the bumper and drivers side tire and turn the motor with a ratchet. I looked down at the flex plate and watched the nuts come around.
This motor is leaking oil from just about every where. I went to Napa and got a full set of gaskets. The plan is to replace most of them and clean it up and paint before I put it back in.
