I have a fellow interested in my 53 Pontiac . Thinking of selling her .
What to ask .... I know the full history of the car , I got it from my aunt .
She purchased it new . It is now a project car . But with an hour or two
will run and drive . All I find on line are running nice cars .
    Any thoughts ?

depends how bad you want to sell/ need the money

I would want probably around 4g for a car like that, more if you can jump in it and drive it

I can get it to run ,and drive . Not a turn key though .
I was thinking 5k for starting , asking price .
    Least I would take , $3500

Sounds like a fair asking price to me, for a runner like that. Rust looks mostly surface, that's a big plus.

Body is sound , floor , trunk ,all is surface rust . Last time I tagged her was in 03 .
Had her running last summer , needs some work , no power to the coil .
I have lost interest in her . I have had her since I was 13 years old !

Yeah get rid of it while it's still in shape for that. I know from experience, once you lose interest in a project it's damn hard if not impossible to get it back. Cash is better in those cases!

Been holding on too long ....
I think you are correct , need to sell while It still has value .
Just hard to see a car go that I rode in when I was just born ...
I have memories , in that car , riding to the store while standing in the back seat .
No seat belts , no cares . The dog beside me , his name was Mickey . A black lab .
My Aunt bought it new , she helped raise me , and left me the car when she passed .

you get to keep the memories
I have "stalled" projects that end up being scrap
like Ken said, once you loose interest, time to move on
I would sell it, and get something else

Good point . My kids are trying to talk me out of selling it ...
I think it needs to be another persons fancy .

My kids talked me out of selling the 46 Chevy pick up project 15 years ago. said we should build it as a family
It sits down back sinking in the ground, no one working on it, rusting away. Soon there won't be anything left but a pile of rusted metal

My Father-In-Law has an old Studebaker inhis barn. Told me 30 years ago he was going to pull it out and restore it, or at least get it running again. Has turned down offers to sell it. It still sits in that damn barn getting covered in junk. No doubt that when the time comes, it will be hauled for scrap.

That is a very nice car John as I've said before, would be a shame to see it go to waste...

The guy came and looked . I shot out 5K for the opening .
He said 3k ... He looked close ,we had a beer .
I said we can come to an agreement .
He needs to talk to his Wife .....
    What should I do ? Sell her ? ... How much ....

    meet in the middle......4k........

you get to put the money away for a rainy day to make more memories for the future
If he don't bite, get it running, and ask 6k, and settle for the 5k you want

A plain painless wiring harness kit will run around $300, and take a few hours to install

Give it to a good home. I agree with Charlie, meet him in the middle. This old steel is becoming harder and harder to find and repair. Any chance someone wants to fix up an old antique should be encouraged. Cars, trucks, old farm tractors, old semi trucks, all that stuff is a part of history. I would include a stipulation in this sale, you want to see the finished product, and take it for a drive. That might be worth a couple hundred bucks off the price too. That's up to you.
