I have an o4 fx4 ext cab 5.4 with the 4r75 e transmission i belive. Overdrive is gone. I can get a transmission with low miles from an 02 f150 no torque converter. My question is will it work? Can i use my torque converter in it?? Thanks

Even if it does interchange, you should not use your old torque converter. That would likely ruin your transplant transmission.

The 2004+ F150 5.4L also has a heck of a lot more torque, starting at a lower RPM, than the previous generation. The 4R75e is stronger than the 4R70w. I'd be concerned about how long it will last if you ever have to stomp the throttle.

Is there any way to tell the difference by looking at them ??

I don't know the specifics but I do know the wiring harnesses are different. And the counts used by the PCM for the speedometer are different, it would need custom tuning if you use a 4R70 in a 4R75e application.

    I thought 02 f150s used a 4r75e transmission also???

The 75 series came out for the 2003 model year in the Mustang GT, as the 4R75w. It was not used in the F-150 until the newer model truck came out for the 2004 module year as the 4R75E for the 5.4L (the 4.6L still used the 4R70e).
