Has anyone heard of the hubs getting stuck on the 4x4. How can you tell? There aren't "On-Off" control s on the hubs! How do you check?

I assume you have as set of automatic hubs

Best way to see if the hubs are locked/unlocked, is to crawl under the truck, and see if the front driveshaft turns.
if it turns the hubs are unlocked. not, they are locked

You don't have to turn the driveshaft but about 2 turns, the hubs should lock.
If they don't ( the driveshaft continues to turn), they probably have failed

    A word of caution
The nut that holds in the wheel bearings is a "one time use only:, and has been discontinued by Ford, and is not supported by the aftermarket

That being said, there also IS NO TOOL TO REMOVE IT
use caution, and several screwdrivers to "unratchet " it out to repack the wheel bearings

I can guarantee one will self destruct
Bronco graveyard sells a milemarker manual hub kit with a nut that will replace the whole nut, and hub. You just lose the automatic hub, which probably didn't work anymore anyway
