A friend has a 93 with a 4.0 with 2 dead cylinders and replacing the motor will be the quickest repair so what all year of motors can be used.

 

In block cam 4.o went up to half year 97, then became over head cam
Best year is 96, they had all the bugs worked out of them by then

Thanks for the info and was seeing newer Explorers with 4.0sand wondering if it was the same motor but will look for a 96 or early 97.
