I plan on getting a 7.3 idi to swap in my truck with a c4 and was wondering if it will work? I believe they bolt up to a c6 (if i recall right) so if i get a big block bell housing would the idi bolt up?

It would probably destroy it. Too much torque

That's my thought. Go with an E4OD.

I plan on rebuilding it and adding some better clutches. Have run a c4 in a race car for years with a 393 cleveland and recently a 502 pushing 700, they seem fine if you build them right just wondering if it will bolt on no issues

yes it will work fine, but you need a diesel C6. gas engine C6 will not bolt to the diesel block. the C6 was used behind the diesel from 83 to 88 when the E4OD came out, and was an option until 94

He wants to put a C -4 On it Tom

The horse power isn't going to hurt it, it's the torque.
I guess anything is worth a try.
Not sure , but I think you may be able to use a bell housing out of a IH
