VIN F60CC87236 I figured some out but not all, I got f60 for f600? also made in canada? but the other s i couldnt find a decoder for F600 any guidance? Thanks

 

Hi what year are we talking about, and you are one digit short in your vin number here

 

Canadian trucks prior to '67 had unique serial numbers, 6 digits, dash, 8 digits (or 9), US had 11 digits. This, according to my 61 Canadian shop manual. From '67, both shared a common number sequence.
The first group is sequential # and gvw, second group is make, model, series, wheelbase, year, drive. Mine are missing the year, so I think that was no longer used.

 

Heck yeah I missed a digit! It’s a 1966 F600, F60CC872736. Door tag has Canada on it also.

 

Production moved to the new "Ontario truck" plant mid-year, my '66 has the earlier type of data plate. I don't have a manual for my '67, but the plate was updated and uses a serial number sequence that follows the U.S. style.
Anyway, F60 is F600, C is the engine, C is the Ontario plant, the rest is the sequence.
I also have this '62 F700, 30" frame extension and a 16' grain box. Cool highway truck, but a little clumsy in town.

 

one site i found had a C for a 351 Cleveland is that correct?

They re-used the codes, I don't have that for '66, but my '67 uses C for 352.
Edit, oops, Y is 352, misread my own picture, 289 was C.

 

F60 = F600 (gas) // C = 330 2V Medium Duty FT engine // C = Oakville Ontario Canada Truck Assembly Plant // Cannot decode the last 5 digits because it's supposed to be 6 digits.

This decodes to the month/year the truck was assembled.

I can decode the entire Warranty Plate...riveted to the left door face below the latch.
