And gun registration was required all along the way. It is thru this registration that Hitler was able to identify Jewish weapon owners and subsequently disarm them.

Something else crosses my mind here -
    1) You yourself request a psyche screening/evaluation.
    2) No determination of any kind has been made at this point.

Doesn't the fifth amendment come into play somewhere in there? It would seem to be a case where an individual has incriminated themselves...

Furthermore - if an individual who is a non-professional seeks an opinion, it seems that their own doubt is taken as a professional diagnosis of a condition that may in fact not even exist, which borders on hearsay (or however you spell it).

Suppose I walk into an FBI Field office and say:
    "Hi fellas! I'm crazy..."

    (?)

    What then?

Probably has to do with weather your from a protected minority or religious class. If you're just some old white guy who's a veteran, the answer is not pretty.

A receptionist would probably ask you what makes you think so, while another receptionist quietly phones the Federal Protective Services (Federal Police in charge of Federal Blg. Security) who in turn would send an Officer to the FBI Office and call the local Police.

The Federal Police would stabilize the situation until the locals arrived and then the local Police would conduct an interview and determine if you qualified for a POH (5150 if your in California). Being "crazy" is an illness and not against the law, therefore there is no involvement of the 5th amendment.

At least in Oregon the record of the call is Public Record, if you are transported for further evaluation at the Hospital or Mental Health Dept., that then falls under HIPAA and takes an act of God and Snowden to get the records.

Leave us all beware of telephone lines that make a muted "BEEP" every ten seconds..

(Which means the line is automatically recorded)
