Finally got the engine all buttoned up. These pics are from a few months ago . My pace on this project has been positively glacial . IMG_20161209_143051846.jpg #ad

Uncrating the Hughes Performance built T400 transmission . You can see the Engine all painted and ready in the background. IMG_20170624_100513341.jpg #ad

Here she is !! First time in over 20yrs this truck has had its heart ! We pushed the engine back as far as we could to move the CG behind the front axle . We mocked up motor mounts and the transmission cross member . I need to fit the removable bolt in cross member between the mounts then finish welding them up before I do the final install . We used angle iron braces bolted to the heads so that we could adjust the engines position and then keep it steady while we fitted the mounts . In this picture there is no load on the lift and it is sitting on them suspension. IMG_20170624_142138505_HDR.jpg #ad

crazy to see a T400 behind a ford now a days. any reason for not going with a built C6?

    Well ,
The main reason is there just isn't a lot of support for the venerable C6 . There aren't as many upgrades for them as for the T400.
The internals are heavier and there aren't new cases available.
At least that's what the quote " experts" have told me.
There are more options with the T 400 than the C6.
I usually don't do automatics so I have relied on friends that drag race and spoken to a lot of shops that build race transmission"s.
I also had bad luck with my 408 powered Stang with a couple of "race C4's.
I was assured they could take the abuse and both failed in a very short time.
So , I figured I would try the T 400 and see what happens.

Here's an underside shot of the completed engine mounts. After test fitting all the parts and driveline ,it will come back apart for painting and detailing. This is the first assembly on the truck. Hopefully I won't have too many do overs ! IMG_20170707_112025385.jpg #ad

Here I have got the water pump, core support and distributer installed and am starting to figure out the hot side plumbing for turbos. The hot side is going to be custom fabbed S.S. headers.
Sure hope my skills are still up to snuff . I still need to move the water inlet to the drivers side of the pump as I will be using a cross flow radiator.

Got the new front fenders in and mounted them up with the core support so that I can start on fabbing the headers and trying to figure out how much I will need to alter the inner fenders for room and clearance. IMG_20170724_144212265_HDR.jpg #ad

Here is my custom built aluminum radiator for the F100 .
It was built for me by Jeff Johnson at Fontana Radiator Service . Extremely fine work , his shop always does a kick ass job .
Just picked it up this morning. IMG_20170821_121711665.jpg #ad
