Converting it away from points is a must. It'll save you time in the long run and increase reliability. I went with a Mallory setup, but that was a long time ago and there are many more options now.

Alright, I had it bored and got new pistons and the whole package, but as I'm installing the camshaft bearing #3 keeps coming out as I'm pushing the cam in. Any tips on keeping it in place?

Did the machine shop who did your engine work install the new cam bearings?? If so you need to talk to him about it. You realize that you need to Keep Rotating the cam as you try to install it?? ALSO the bearing needs to be in a position aligning the oil feed hole. Cap

I installed my own bearings, and yes I have been rotating the cam. The bearing is also in proper position.

I have No answer for you. Either the bearing is defective or the bore in the block is somehow damaged. If one of the other bearings is also correct for this position, you might try swapping the bearings to see if problem stays in the same bore or goes where you put the bearing that is problem. ARE YOU using a bearing driving tool to install the bearings??

Yes I am using a proper install tool. I'll see what I can figure out.
