How much would it have cost to take care of it in the first damn place?

In a just world, a lot less than the fine.
I don't give a damn what the fine is, somebody should go to jail.

But mama always said, life isn't fair.

You'd think the auto makers would learn this important lesson but they don't. From the Pinto right up until now... they keep repeating the same mistakes.

How many have they got away with?
Saddle tanks on Chevy pickups would have bankrupted GM, but they never got nailed on it.

True, but I think they are finding it's getting more expensive and harder to hide these days. Information, stats and data about an issue are much easier to collect these days.

The down side is that dozens of people may suffer horrible injuries or even death, but the up side is that they may still make their bonus this year.

But damn, they were a pain in the arse to fill up - My first vehicle in high school was a '78 Chevy Scottsdale "Heavy Half" with the dual saddle bag tanks - fill one tank up and then turn the truck around to fill the other tank - ah, hell no...

Damn Terry, I remember those. A friend of mine had one and yes it was a bitch to fill up.
