About ten years ago I bought a timing belt from AZ . They wanted me to sign up for an award card. I told them the only reason I was there was the others were out of them! I can count on one hand the Times I've been back. ........

TWO different FE starters, both have 3 mounting holes, A/T or M/T makes no difference, but...

The 1958/62 starter uses the HUGE Bendix inertia starter drive, while the 1963/76 starter does not.

1965/76: TWO different 352/360 & 390 M/T flywheels (both have 184 tooth ring gears), but the only difference is the 352/360 uses an 11" clutch, while the 390 uses an 11 1/2" clutch.

1958/64 FE flywheels (have 153 tooth ring gears) are different as are 1966/70 410/428 flywheels.

Took off the starter. Teeth are completely sheared off

    OUCH!!!!

looks like someone put the wrong starter in. now what you are going to have to do is figure out which one was in there and see how many teeth were on the gear, and get the other one.

the early one actually engages from the other side of the ring gear looks like that is the one you need [early]

I agree with Tom and Rosco. That is the wrong starter
