I loved that car ! should have gotten rid of the x wife first !
Loved the body design , the nose with the headlamp and grill arrangement . The flag emblem on the side , the craigers and air shocks ...
    I had a bellair at the same time , a 65 4 door 6 cyl , 3 speed . I miss that one also . It was our road trip car .
Wish I had kept them instead of her .....:banghead:

I think that Hudson is one fine looking automobile and who wouldn't like one of those Merc's. :)

John, I had a 65 Ragtop Galaxie 500. It would fly. Then I had a 68 LTD, then a 69 Galaxie XL, followed by a 72 LTD. I loved them all, but I do wish that I had kept the 65. It was a rare loaded one. It would be worth a lot of bucks now. I think I paid $1,400 for it in 1971, but that was a long time ago. After that I went through the Torino line with a 70 Cobra, 76 (sucked) Gran T, a 77 T/A and them a Limited 79 LTD II. Oh to have all of them back, but when you are young and stupid, you do not put anything in a garage and store it.

1948/54 Hudson Motor Car Co. ad slogan: Only Hudson offers Step Down ride.

I wonder how many people here will know what step down refers to?

Most cars/trucks up to that point used buggy springs, and had a high ground clearance.
Hudson started the trend to coil springs, and altered how the frame was set into the body, by where the suspension could be set
Ford later used torsion bars, and lowered the frame even more toward the ground.

The picture of the Hudson I posted reminded me of the Tucker, I think there were a lot of cars that were ahead of their times and kind of fizzled out probably because of the expense of the tooling to produce them.
